A common questions on many forums is . . .
[glow=blue,2,300] What is this thing called KARMA(Reputation Points) and what is it USED for?[/glow]
Well, this answer can very forum to forum. Here on this forum, we call it Karma; on the sister site, we call it Reputation Points. Either works.
A common answer is that Karma/Reputation Points is (can be used as) a sign of praising/blessing a member and or rewarding them because of reasons and ways I will get to and are posted below. On some sites, depending on the kind, it can be a sign of currency / payment.
RPS's definition of Karma: We call it Reputation Points. As mentioned above, a sign of exalting a member and currency.
Ways to Earn Karma/Reputation Points:
*Entering and winning contests.
*Membership anniversaries. (Ex: One year membership, two year, etc. NOTE: These anniversaries must be over a year. Not monthly or weekly. Members may have to remind Staff about this.)
*Doing helpful/good things (does not necessarily/always apply to staff) such as: reporting flames(ers) about the site, XS, members, etc, intentional spammers (both Cbox and forum), hackers, (severe) rule breakers, advertisement that is not properly submitted, people who can have knowledge with hacking and can help me prevent it, telling me about kewl codes and new ideas for the site (esp if I decide to take you up on ur idea I'll give you Karma) and more.
Ways to USE Karma/Reputation Points:
*Buying things on certain threads is really it. There's a variety of threads and things to purchase.
NOTE: When I say "puchase" and "buy", you are NOT actually buying what every you request online! You are NOT using actual money and Karma in no way has to do with real money and other currencies. This is a RPS (Role Playing Site), this is all a game and we're pretending to buy things.
**All Members start off with 20 Reputation Points IF they activate their account. (Again, members may have to remind staff about this.)
